Job Title: Housekeeping Aide

Department: Housekeeping

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor

Position Summary: Carry out the duties of the Housekeeping Department for the District per policies and procedures set.

Job Qualifications:          

Education: High School graduate or equivalent desirable.

 

Physical and Mental requirements:  Position requires extended periods of standing and walking, lifting up to 50 pounds.  Frequent pushing, pulling and carrying of supplies and carts, and bending, stooping, and reaching to stock and distribute supplies.  The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.

  4. Manual dexterity, both fine and gross motor skills required

  5. Must be able to follow instructions and assigned routine

  9. Mechanical ability required to operate various machines.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Maintain an acceptable attendance and punctuality in accordance with North Runnels Hospital District standards.

  2. Protects the confidentiality of Patient/Resident care information.

  3. Protects the confidentiality of interdepartmental discussions and activities.

  4. Abide by District and department policies and procedures.

  5. Checks daily cleaning assignment and selects materials and supplies to load service cart for daily work.

  6. Leaves soiled linens and trash in designated areas in containers consistent with universal precautions. Leaves cart and equipment clean and locked at all times.  

  7. Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, floors, and equipment with approved cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease

  8. Use dust cloths and vacuum cleaner to clean window seals, blinds, floors and furniture.

  9. Empties trash, clean baskets and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion.

  10. Makes beds with clean linen in prescribed manner.

  11. Scours tubs, sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment replenishing supplies of soap, towels, and other dispensable items.

  12. Notifies supervisor when supplies are low

  13. Reports any mechanical failures or negative safety conditions observed and prepares work order for maintenance.

  14. Observes safe lifting procedures and works with others in moving heavy furniture and turning mattresses.

  15. Responsible for understanding hazardous materials precautions. In-service mandatory.

  16. Responsible for understanding Universal Precautions and for utilizing protective gloves and gowns as necessary (PPE). Also must understand precautions necessary in the disposal of bio hazard waste and sharps containers.

  17. Leaves room in readiness for Patient/Residents admissions and completes cleaning of patient’s room for Patients/Residents discharged on worker’s assigned shift.

  18. Is aware of safety precautions and always posts caution signs for wet floors, etc.

  19. Assist co-workers in their responsibilities as necessary.

  20. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
