Position Summary:
The Business Office Clerk serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to ensure smooth clinic operations. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities::
Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
Answer and direct incoming phone calls; take messages and schedule appointments
Verify patient information and insurance details during check-in
Collect co-pays and process payments accurately
Maintain and update patient records in the electronic health system
Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure timely patient flow
Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reception area
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and data entry
Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in a medical or customer service setting preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Working Conditions:
Standard clinic hours; occasional overtime may be required
Frequent interaction with patients, staff, and providers
May require prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
